The Basilica of Santa Maria de Elche is a juxtaposition of renaissance, baroque, and neoclassical styles. The castle-palace Alcázar de la Señoría, also known as Altamira Palace, which was once a part of the city’s defensive network, now houses the Archaeological and History Museum of Elche.

The Palmeral of Elche, a UNESCO World Heritage site with over 200,000 palm trees, is the world’s largest palm grove. It was originally established as an agricultural system by the Arabs in the 8th century. The Huerto del Cura Garden is another place to ponder the beauty of nature.

The Elche Medieval Festival that takes place annually in late October/early November is a week-long celebration of the middle ages, where the city changes into a giant stage celebrating over 60 events related to past religious events and wars with singing, dancing, feasting, and drinking.
