GUARDAMAR DEL SEGURA

Often referred to simply as Guardamar, this municipality in the province of Alicante, is a Mediterranean resort developed directly on the beach between Santa Pola and Torrevieja. It enjoys a diverse landscape due to its location at the mouth of the river, next to the coastline. It offers long stretches of golden sandy beaches with pine forests and dunes surrounded by pink and blue salt lakes. The Laguna de La Mata Natural Park is famous for its huge saltwater lake and migrating flamingos, and the pine forest of Guardamar is among the most beautiful coastal forests in Spain.

Numerous Blue Flag beaches dot Guardamar's 11 kilometres of coastline, of which Playa Centro, La Roqueta, Playa Moncayo, Playa del Campomar, Playa Babilonia and Playa de las Dunas are the most popular. Beachfront bars, restaurants, cafes, coffee shops and ice cream parlours line some of these beaches.

The municipal marina of Las Dunas de Guardamar is located at the mouth of the Segura River. It is a first class marina with 494 moorings and offers two kilometres of navigable course for small boats.
